Who doesn’t love more free plants?

Try this for yourself or to create lovely personal gifts that won’t break the bank.

The technique for water propagation of cactus is pretty similar to that of other house plants. However the main difference is that you must wait for the cut side of the plant stem to completely dry and scar over before setting it in water. This takes at least a week, sometimes more depending on the weather.
If you prefer to start from a store-bought cactus and “convert” it for life in water, check out our instructions here.
Want to try water propagation on other types of house plants? This way.
If you want, you can repot your cuttings in soil once they have sufficient roots, just make sure you keep the soil quite moist in the beginning, and use soil specifically made for cactus and succulents. Use a pot that has proper drainage, and don’t leave water standing in the saucer after waterings.
Cactus plants are sun-loving creatures and will get too tall and lanky if they don’t receive enough light. Set them in the spotlight!
Why don’t you use some of our fun golden tattoos to decorate your pots too?  It makes a great festive gift.
